Breastfeeding is the ideal way of providing your baby with the nutrients he/she needs for healthy growth and development. It is the only normal food your baby is designed to digest.
Virtually all mothers can breastfeed, provided they have accurate information, and the support of their family and the health care system. Colostrum, the yellowish, sticky breast milk produced at the end of pregnancy, is recommended by WHO as the perfect food for the newborn, and feeding should be initiated within the first hour after birth. Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months of age.
I am a Lactation Counselor and I have been helping women with breastfeeding in the Central Florida area since 2002. I will provide support and education on breastfeeding your baby, and will assist you in reaching your breastfeeding goal. As your Lactation Counselor I prefer to meet with you and your baby to evaluate feeding soon after birth. I will work with you to ensure a proper latch to successfully establish breastfeeding, and avoid common problems such as sore nipples and insufficient milk supply.
Lactation Services
Lactation fees are on a sliding scale of $50-$100 to come to your home and help you. This visit is normally about two hours long. I offer unlimited phone, text, or email support for no fee whether I see you as a client or not. Helping your baby feed in the way he/she is designed to feed is the most important thing.
